About Jason Starr

Opening

I’m not a therapist. I’m not a life coach with a program. I’m not a guru.

I’m someone who has spent 40 years watching people — including myself — navigate important decisions while moving too fast to see clearly.

I’ve built businesses from the ground up, guided people through some of the most significant decisions of their financial lives, studied human behavior formally and informally for decades, and done enough of my own work to know what it costs to ignore the harder questions.

What I’ve learned, more than anything else, is this:
Most people don’t lack information. They lack perspective.

That’s what I offer. Not answers. Not a plan. Perspective — through honest conversation, careful listening, and questions that most people around you are too close, or too polite, to ask.

Background

I’ve been a business owner since 2000. Before that: construction superintendent, business owner, and for years, a professional who made his living in high-pressure environments where trust and judgment were the only currency that mattered.

I’ve completed advanced training in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), life coaching, and human behavior. I’ve studied with Tony Robbins, Eckhart Tolle, and the Hoffman Institute, among others. Not to collect credentials — but because I’ve always needed to understand how people think, what drives them, and what gets in the way.

I’ve also co-founded I’m Listening with my daughter Jasmyn — which tells you something about how seriously I take this work.

How I Work

I listen more than I talk.

When I do speak, I’ll be honest — not harsh, but honest. I won’t tell you what you want to hear if it isn’t true. I won’t push you toward a decision. I won’t pretend to have answers I don’t have.

What I will do is create the space for you to hear yourself think — maybe for the first time in a long time.
